Ronald E. Smallwood Scholarship Fund
The Ronald E. Smallwood Scholarship Fund was established in 2000 by the Chapter's Board of Directors in honor of Veteran Member Ronald E. Smallwood for his dedicated service to our industry. Ron entered our industry over fifty (50) years ago as an apprentice in Local Union #313, IBEW. Ron served at every leadership level in the Division and Chapter including Chairman, Treasurer, Vice-President, President and Governor. Ron has been inducted into the Academy of Electrical Contractors, the Industry's highest honor. Ron was also awarded the W. Frazer Award, our Chapter's highest honor. Ron was the Inaugural Chairman of the Chapter Scholarship Committee and served on the Golf Committee.
Many of our Chapter's leaders were instrumental in the creation and support of the Scholarship, particularly, John Hahn, Furness Electric Co., Gabe Noto, G.R. Noto Electrical Construction, Inc., Tom Moore, J.P. Rainey Co., Inc., Dennis Smith, Carr & Duff, Gene Battaglia, Battaglia Electric, Inc. and Larry Bradley, NEBF Secretary-Treasurer.
The Scholarship Fund was created to help enable children and grandchildren of employees of NECA Contractors to realize their collegiate potential. Since the Fund was established, one hundred fifty eight (158) young adults have received a total of $395,000.00 to help with the cost of their education. Thanks to your support, the Fund has raised over $550,000.00 since inception.
